As Champion Autism Network closes it doors, The Arc of Horry stands ready to continue these events

The Arc of Horry stands steadfast to provide these services and so many more to our partners, families, and others. We hope to achieve this to continue our mission of promoting the rights of individuals with disabilities and fostering inclusion in our community through community events.  


We created this page to provide families with up-to-date information about the change and what they should expect. As always, if anyone has any questions, they may reach out to us via email.

AbleVu and Autism Travel Club Update

The Arc of Horry is aware of the changes between AbleVu and the Autism Travel Club transition.

AbleVu has acquired Autism Travel Club, and we're excited about the opportunity to bring together two organizations that share a commitment to making travel and everyday experiences more accessible. As part of this transition, the Autism Travel Club app will go offline soon while we work to bring everything together under AbleVu.


Here's what this means for you:

You will no longer be charged for your ATC app subscription.

You'll continue to have access to the app until it goes offline.


Our hope is to bring the app back better than ever, with new features and expanded accessibility resources through AbleVu.


In the meantime, we encourage you to visit www.AbleVu.com, where you can find much of the same accessibility information you've come to rely on, plus even more resources to help you plan accessible experiences.


We're not announcing a relaunch date just yet, but we're excited about what we're building.

We plan to have a full schedule by September 1st. Families and the Public should follow our social media for updates. We will also announce them here on this webpage.

We hope to bring in more partners to do these events, but the ones our community is familiar with: Bricks and Minifigs, Dave & Buster's, Myrtle Waves, etc. will still continue under The Arc of Horry.

Yes. All events operate under a standard non-custodial supervision framework. Parents, guardians, or designated personal support staff must remain on-site and actively supervise participants throughout the duration of each event.

The Arc of Horry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit promoting the human rights of individuals with disabilities through advocacy, services, and community engagement. We are a part of The Arc, the national organization, and our state chapter, The Arc of South Carolina.

As Champion Autism Network (CAN) concluded its decade of dedicated advocacy, the torch was officially passed to The Arc of Horry to preserve and protect these beloved community traditions. The Arc of Horry has stepped forward to ensure that local and visiting families continue to have consistent, judgment-free, low-stimulation experiences across the Grand Strand.

For the time being, we will focus on the Sensory Friendly Events but hope to expand the LOC soon.

We are working closely with these partners to ensure those benefits continue. We will provide an update to ensure they will still support the Autism Travel Club card or the CAN card.

AbleVu has officially acquired Autism Travel Club (ATC). As part of this platform merger, the standalone ATC mobile app is going offline while its resources migrate into AbleVu’s broader accessibility platform. This digital app change does not cancel or pause any of The Arc of Horry’s scheduled sensory-friendly events.

Because of Champion Autism Network closing down, sign ups for the CAN card has been discontinued. Please visit https://ablevu.com/ for more info.

No. Families do not need an active mobile app subscription or app screen to attend The Arc of Horry’s sensory-friendly events. Check-in protocols will be handled directly through event RSVPs, The Arc of Horry community rosters, or standard venue ticketing guidelines.

No. All recurring subscription billing for the ATC mobile app has ceased. Families who previously held active app subscriptions will not see further renewal charges.

We are working closely with CAN and our partners regarding taking over these events. At this time, we do not suspect anything additional will be added, nor anything taken away. We will let our families know as soon as we know.
