The Arc of Horry's PB&J Competition

What is The Arc of Horry's PB&J Competition about?

The PB&J competition is a friendly rivalry between the two colleges—Coastal Carolina and Horry Georgetown Tech—in which they will compete to create the most PB&Js.

At the end of the event or when all PB&Js run out—whichever comes first—we will count the PB&Js and distribute them to areas of need, such as food banks/soup kitchens, churches, women's shelters, etc. The event is in connection with MLK Day, which should be a day of service, not a day off. This is in partnership with The Arc of the United States, The Arc of South Carolina, and AmeriCorps.

The event is open to all!

What does the PB&J Competition look like?

I'm glad you've asked!

The Arc of South Carolina also hosted a PB&J Competition in Columbia to help serve the Midlands. They have made up to 2,000 PB&Js and sent them to local nonprofits, food banks, shelters, and other organizations across the Midlands.

The Arc of Horry will hold the same goals as our State chapter.

You can view some photos here to get an idea on what the event will look like: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A66hsWBRu/

I like the idea... How can I help?

We are so glad you asked!

Heading Inland (To Conway/Anyor/I-95)

Get onto US-501 North and drive past the Tanger Outlets and Carolina Forest.

When you see the Burger King on your left at the 4-way traffic light, start slowing down and get into the left-turn lane.

Once you pass the Food Lion/Chipotle, look for the median crossover right where the college building with the flagpoles is. Turn left there to enter the campus.

Heading to the Beach (To Myrtle Beach/Surfside Beach/US 17)

Follow US-501 South past downtown Conway and the Waccamaw River bridge.

Pass the HWY 501/HWY 544 Interchange. Start preparing to move to the right lane at the first traffic light after the interchange.

When you reach the second traffic light, slow down and merge to the right lane.

Turn right where the college building with the flagpoles is.

I like to donate money, how can I do that?

We ask that you bring a cash donation to the event. We are still working to get a cashless option up and running as soon as possible.

I like to donate supplies (bread, peanut butter, jelly, tables). How can I do that?

You may fill out this form here: https://forms.gle/xWgc6ynvzvSfgSNZ7
